Meesho Commission and Charges: What Is Deducted From a Sale

5 min read · Updated

Between the selling price and the settlement, a Meesho seller can see several kinds of deduction: commission where it applies, return charges, RTO charges where applied, ads cost, tax deducted or collected, and other adjustments. This guide does not quote Meesho’s rates, because they differ by category and change. Your payment file shows your own figures.

Why this guide does not quote Meesho’s rates

This guide explains the kinds of deduction and gives no rates. Meesho’s charges differ by category and change over time, so a figure copied from a guide can be wrong for your product. The sources to rely on are your own payment file and the current policy Meesho shows in the Supplier Panel.

Once you have your own figures, the free Meesho profit calculator turns them into profit per order. It has a commission box that stays empty until you type your own rate.

Selling price and settlement: the two numbers

The selling price is what the order is sold for; the settlement is what Meesho actually pays you for it after it is delivered. The gap between the two is the total of the deductions on that order.

How an order moves from delivery to a payment date is covered in the Meesho payment cycle and settlement.

What Meesho deducts from a sale: the kinds of charge

A seller can see six kinds of deduction. Not every kind appears on every order, and which ones apply to you is shown in your payment file.

Kind of deductionWhat it isWhere it goes in the calculator
Commission, where it appliesThe marketplace’s fee on a sale"Meesho commission %", or empty with the settlement price
Return chargesA deduction linked to an order the customer received and sent backPart of "Loss per return"
RTO charges, where Meesho applies themA deduction linked to an order that came back without being delivered"Loss per RTO"
Ads costWhat you spend on Meesho ads, if you run them"Ads cost per order"
Tax deducted or collectedTax the marketplace deducts or collects on your salesNot included; ask your accountant
Other adjustmentsAny other entry, such as a recovery or a compensationNot included; read them line by line

What is the Meesho commission rate

There is no single Meesho commission rate that a guide can honestly give you. Any rate depends on the category you sell in and on Meesho’s policy at the time. Do not borrow a figure from another seller, whose category may not be yours. Work out your own, as below.

How to find your own figures in the payment file

You find your own figures by reading one delivered order from start to finish in your payment file. It takes six steps.

  1. Log in to the Meesho Supplier Panel and open the payments section.
  2. Download the received (previous) payments file for a recent period. The upcoming (outstanding) payments file covers orders that are not paid yet.
  3. Find the row of one delivered order of the product you are checking.
  4. Note what the order was sold for and the settlement amount in that row. The difference is everything deducted on that order.
  5. Read the columns in between, going by the headings in your own file, because column names can change.
  6. If the file shows a commission amount, divide it by the price you will type in the calculator and multiply by 100. That is your rate for that product; confirm it on a few more orders.

Return, RTO and ads deductions

For return and RTO charges, find one customer return and one RTO order in the same files and note what was deducted for each. The two are different events: see what RTO is in Meesho.

To skip reading rows by hand, upload the files to the free Meesho seller dashboard. It lists the return and RTO charges and the ads cost found in your reports.

How to put your figures in the calculator

Enter commission in one of two ways, never both, or it is counted twice.

  • You know the settlement price: enter it as the price and leave "Meesho commission %" empty, because the settlement is already after commission.
  • You know only the selling price: enter it as the price and type your own commission rate.
  • Add the return charge and an allowance for damaged stock as "Loss per return", and any RTO deduction as "Loss per RTO".

A worked example with made-up numbers

These numbers are invented to show the arithmetic. The 10% used here is an example only and is not Meesho’s rate.

Say the price is ₹300 and you type 10 in the commission box. Out of 100 dispatched orders, 80 are delivered, so their price adds up to ₹24,000 and the commission on them is ₹2,400. With the other example costs on the calculator page, profit per dispatched order falls from ₹90 with the box empty to ₹66 with the made-up rate.

From charges to profit

Charges matter only for what they leave you. Put your own figures into the Meesho profit calculator to see profit per order, margin and the break-even return rate, and read how to calculate your real profit on Meesho for the full method.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Meesho commission rate for sellers?

There is no single rate to quote. It depends on your category and on Meesho’s policy at the time. Read your own payment file, or the current policy in the Supplier Panel, for the figure that applies to you.

How much does Meesho charge from a seller?

It depends on the product and its category, so no one figure fits every seller. The amounts deducted for your own orders are in your payment file.

Where can I see Meesho selling charges for my orders?

In the payment files from the payments section of the Meesho Supplier Panel: the received (previous) payments file for paid orders and the upcoming (outstanding) file for the rest.

Why is my Meesho settlement lower than my selling price?

Because deductions are taken before you are paid. Read the row of that order in your payment file to see which ones were applied.

Is commission deducted on a returned or RTO order?

A returned or RTO order brings no sale payment. What was deducted for it, if anything, is in your payment file. The profit calculator counts commission on delivered orders only.
